I'm sorry that I missed last week everybody but, my pneumonia knocked me out. On Friday, I came in and saw James and Ryan who informed me that you were studying invasive species.
I thought about this for a while and came up with this question: View the situation in Iraq without a 'for' or 'against' attitude, but rather as a population of organisms experiencing an invasive species, the U.S.; how does this situation emulate a macrocosm of events that occur on the micro-biotic level?
I understand that this is a stretch because we are all human-beings, but do your best and respond here in 200 words or more.
P.S. Please remember that I am assessing these posts as homework assignments.

I think that the U.S., acting as an invasive species by entering into Iraq, is the same as an invasive species entering into an ecosystem because they both invade on a non-native territory to try to take over and control. I feel that in this situation the U.S. is similiar to a friendly invader because they are placed there to try to help regulate whats going on.However, they inhabit the dominant traits as well. Not only do they take over the land, in a way they are constantly reproducing, because as the days go by, more and more troops are sent in, which is causing the native species to move, die out or have to fight, the one that is best fit will survive.

Wow, this is an interesting idea. I believe that as humans, we are always going to be trying to dominate the next person in line regardless of our differences and similarities. Similar to the Iraq War, or any war for that matter, we are doing something more than tempting to replace their ideas of government and democracy. With our presence in the Middle East we are also sharing our western technologies in addition to our commodities and illnesses. Keeping this in mind, I think it is important to learn from history and remember what happened to the American Indians when the Europeans came back in the 1400s. What would happen if a new strand of bacteria resistant to the Iraqis where to be brought back to the states? This could be a huge problem not only for us but also for the middle easterners who may not be immune to some of our illnesses.
