This is a good connection that every one can connect to. I believe that as it stands we are an invasive species in Iraq. Even though we are trying to make it better we are also making it worse. They are being help but they should also do this by them selves with minimal help. We are like an invasive species because many want we there and many don’t want us there because we are foreign and are change their culture. For better or for worse we are an invasive species no matter how hard we fight them.

FROM MR. WHITE: Invasive Species
Dear DAES students,
I'm sorry that I missed last week everybody but, my pneumonia knocked me out. On Friday, I came in and saw James and Ryan who informed me that you were studying invasive species.
I thought about this for a while and came up with this question: View the situation in Iraq without a 'for' or 'against' attitude, but rather as a population of organisms experiencing an invasive species, the U.S.; how does this situation emulate a macrocosm of events that occur on the micro-biotic level?
I understand that this is a stretch because we are all human-beings, but do your best and respond here in 200 words or more.
P.S. Please remember that I am assessing these posts as homework assignments.

LAKE WALTON RAIL TRAIL
I agree with the optimism for the rail trail. The more aware people are of natural beauty, the more people will care which, hopefully, will affect the county community. Today, my family walked along the Lake Walton Section and although there were trash bins at either end, there was nothing in between here and there. Then again, I saw no trash on the entire length of the trail.
80's--definitely better.

When the rail trail opens it many bring more environment friendly people to the area and gives the area a greater revenue from tourism. The down side is air polution will increase from cars traviling to the area and there will be an increase in ground polution do to people leavinging behind garbage.

Sounds Good
At first I was skeptical of making it easier for the general public to wander into the woods. Now, having read the other posts, I believe that the possible future bennifits deffinetely outweigh the concequences. For example, although there may be littering, even with the proposed trash resepticals; I believe that if we can encourage people, especially kids, to get out and experience nature, they will be more awhere of how their actions effect the environment.
PROS:
-education, protection of the land from development
CONS:
-cose to state (taxes), displacement of animals

It is important to remember the environmental impact of opening any large section of land to the general public. While the Rail Trail will certainly bring with it a greater appreciation of our county's wildlife, like Steve said, we must still remember the repercussions that this will bring with it. Just because there are trash receptacles in a certain area doesn't necessarily mean that people will use them. If anything, there should be a hefty fine enforced for littering along the trail, and a fine that is enforced, just to ensure that a human presence in the area doesn't disturb the native species.
P.S. Shut it Steve, the 80's sucked. Nirvana, 'nuff said.

yes!!
i really think it's a great idea and will allow people to develop a better appreciation for nature..recently i went to lake taconic and they had bags to dispose of trash rather than littering the grounds. THis would be an ideal situation and would make the impact significantly less. I say the more people that can get outside and enjoy nature the better. p.s. 80' s music is better than the 90's...mwhahaha.....s"teve"

DUTCHESS COUNTY RAIL TRAIL
The Dutchess County Rail Trail will bring commerce into the county and will open residents and visitors to a new appreciation of the beauty in our own backyard. However, because of the increased human traffic in these relatively unspoiled areas, the environment will also suffer. Please discuss the both the positive and negative aspects of this issue.
